Antique Syrian Bridal Chest Inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl
This exceptional bridal chest is a rare example of Syria’s long-standing tradition of mother-of-pearl craftsmanship. Hand-selected by Artiquea’s specialists, it stands out for its quality, artistry, and heritage value.
Craftsmanship & Heritage
Mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture has been part of Syrian decorative arts for centuries. Each chest created for Artiquea is the work of five dedicated craftsmen and can take up to eight months to complete. Every element is shaped and fitted entirely by hand, using traditional techniques and no power tools.
All materials are sourced within Syria, from sea and river mollusc shells used for the shimmering inlay to locally harvested walnut wood that forms the body of the piece. The result is a chest that reflects both cultural history and exceptional artisanal skill.
Unique by Design
No two pieces are identical. The mother-of-pearl inlay is individually designed for each chest, so patterns may vary slightly from the photos.
