Matadora by KHALIL, Karim


Karim Khalil has been one of the Iraqi artists who attracted a lot of coverage, his works and career has been the subject in a feature published by The Guardian in 2004.

In this bronze sculpture, Karim khalil is using the figure of a deteriorated high rank military officer with female features and exporting the metaphor of the Spanish Matador to arrange a strange combination of contradictions reflecting the recent history of Iraq.
